When One Door Closes, Another Pops

March 27, 2026 Founder's Note

"They say you never forget the day the lights go out. For me, it happened twice: once when I left, and today, when the story finally reached its last chapter."

When I decided to leave my previous company to start Poppin, it wasn't because I didn't care about where I had been. It was because I felt a different kind of energy—a need to build something from the ground up that was entirely my own. I handed over my keys, said my goodbyes, and focused every ounce of my effort into the perfect kernel.

I left a piece of myself there, and I watched from the sidelines as a former colleague took the reins as the owner. For a long time, they kept the engine running. They fought the good fight and kept the legacy alive while I was busy learning the art of the crunch.

The Rise and Fall of ChocoLuxe

The Final Bell

Today, I heard the news. That chapter has officially closed. The doors are locked, the lights are off, and ChocoLuxe—the company that taught me so much—is now a part of history. It’s a strange feeling watching the place that once felt like home finally reach its conclusion.

The Final Interview (March 24, 2026)

When asked about the closure last Tuesday, the owner of ChocoLuxe shared some sobering truths:

  • "Money was an issue, yes."
  • "Popularity had nothing to do with the closure."
  • "One thing I would change is going back when I 'stole' the company and give you co-owner back."

Hearing those words—especially that final admission—is bittersweet. It validates the struggle of the early days and the complicated emotions that came with leaving. Popularity wasn't the problem; sometimes, the weight of a legacy is simply too heavy to carry without the right hands to hold it.

It serves as a powerful reminder that nothing is permanent, but the lessons we take with us are. The pressure of the world can either crush you or it can turn you into something new.

The Poppin Legacy

Poppin wouldn't exist without ChocoLuxe. It was the training ground that gave me the grit to strike out on my own. While it’s sad to see that era end today, it only makes me more determined to make Poppin a place that lasts—a place built on the foundations of what I learned there, but with a flavor that’s entirely new.

To my former colleagues and the owner who kept it going until the end: thank you for the memories. One door has closed for good today, but here at Poppin, we're just getting started.
